Study on Utilization of Mother Corm as Seed Corm in Taro , Colocasia antiquorum var . esculenta ENGL

Abstract

|
In order to investigate the possiblity of utilizing mother corm as seed corm in taro, the seed corm pieces classified by the weight and were planted at April 20, 1984.
The effect of weight of corms cutting by two pieces (35, 45, 55, 75, and 85g) and four pieces (35 arid 45g) on the growth, yield and quality of taro comparing with cormel follows as:
The corm pieces showed better emergence rate than cormels regrdless of its size. The weightier corm piece was, the better growth and higher yield were.
It was considered that the higher yield and better quality of taro by corm pieces as seed corm due to the increase in the production of large taro.
